The ILIADE program (Indo-French Life Sciences and Artificial Intelligence for a Sustainable Future) is a pioneering Franco-Indian twinning Master’s degree developed by the University of La Réunion (France) and the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT, India).
It is part of the Franco-Indian Campus in Life Sciences for Health) — a network dedicated to fostering excellence in education, research, and innovation across the Indo-Pacific region.
ILIADE brings together two vibrant academic ecosystems to train the next generation of researchers and innovators capable of addressing global challenges in health, environment, and sustainable development.
🌿 Two Interdisciplinary Pathways
Students can choose between two exciting tracks designed to match their interests and career goals:
In particular, ILIADE aims to create a master's degree in biotechnology, which will include 2 tracks :
a first entitled “ Biotechnology specialized in Medicinal plants and phytotherapy »
and a second “ Biotechnology specialized in Computer & artificial intelligence applied to biomedical data »
1. Biotechnology specialized in Medicinal plants and phytotherapy
Dive into the heart of modern biotechnology — from molecular biology and Plant genetic engineering to bio-entrepreneurship and sustainable innovation.
This track offers a strong scientific foundation combined with applied learning and exposure to industrial research environments.
You will explore how biotechnology can address today’s key issues — infectious diseases, bio-based products, and green technologies — while developing the entrepreneurial mindset needed to turn ideas into solutions.
2. Biotechnology specialized in Computer & artificial intelligence applied to biomedical data
At the frontier of life sciences and data science, this track equips students with the tools to apply AI, bioinformatics, and computational modeling to health and biological research.
Through hands-on projects, you will learn to analyse complex biological data, design predictive models, and contribute to innovations in precision medicine and digital health.
🌍 A Truly Global Experience
ILIADE students get to carry out 70% courses from VIT and 30% offered by French University. Students get to do their Master’s internship covering air-travel expenses and a monthly stipend.
ILIADE students will discover two complementary higher education systems and diverse research cultures.
You will work in international laboratories, engage with academic and industrial mentors, and participate in joint research workshops and summer schools.
Graduates earn a double Master’s degree jointly awarded by VIT and the ILIADE Consortium comprising of University of La Réunion, Claude Bernard University-Lyon 1, Louis Lumiere University-Lyon-2 and University of Poitiers — a qualification that opens doors to global research networks and professional opportunities in biotechnology, AI, and health innovation.
